Fender Mustang III

Post by fireglo67 »

Just bought one of these for messing about in the house and yeah, it's not bad at all. In fact I'd go so far as to say it's easily the best modelling amp I've ever used.
As usual with these solid state amps, the overdrive sounds are lousy.
But there are loads of wonderful clean tones to be found lurking within and boy does it go loud if you want it to.
Beats the similar Vox, Line6 and Roland models with one hand tied behind it's back.

A guy I work with just got a Mustang I (20W) for a practice amp and really likes it.

The new mustangs (III - IV - V) are even better than the I & II.
They're easier to use as they now have a screen that shows you all the settings, they have 12" Celestion speakers and kick out 100/150 watts!
My Mustang III is certainly as loud as my Vox AC15. :)

Yep it can, via the USB input on the top! (only joking, it does have USB connectivity, but no youtube. )

The more I'm playing it the more I'm liking it.
The onboard effects are outstanding, at the very least the equal of anything Boss have ever produced.
I'm going to take the little wonder to practice on Monday night to see how it can compete with the rest of the band.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Here it is with my FG330.

What I find most interesting about this amp is the name FMIC gave it, the same as that of two instruments they made/make, the Mustang guitar and bass. I am looking forward to FMIC coming out with the Twin Reverbitar double neck guitar with built in effects or modeling similar to the Line 6 Variax. 8)

That Mustang amp does look great, nicer than Fender's G-DEC amp. :)

Yeah, I thought the use of the name was very odd too.
When I was google searching for the best price for the Mustang I kept getting directed to Fender guitars!

Then again model names aren't everything to everyone.
When I was trying to convince my wife that I need to buy a Fireglo 360c63, she said "what for? You've already got a red one...."

This past Tuesday I happened upon and came home with a '95 Mustang Bass from my local vintage/used music shop, Heights Guitars. My business partner at Labwork is into cars so I told him a bought a Mustang!

Well, I tried it out with the band last night and, well, I have to say that it wasn't the best.
It certainly goes loud enough, but for tone it stuck out like a sore thumb when playing along with tube amps.
Still, it's a lovely little practice amp for the house.
