Strap Locks- took 'em off!
Yup, took 'em off. I got tired of having to pull that button precisely straight out, and it is a hard pull at that. I have one strap I like and 3 bodies. Just seems easier pinching the strap hole over the bodies' strap bolts as-is, and I don't have to fear that metal end clanking around on my loose strap when I'm changing. Anyone else share my sentiments? Or am I just nuts

Way back in '80, before I had my first Rick, I was doing a gig at NYU and my '76 Fender Precision. The button the bottom end of the body slipped out of the strap. I felt it start to go down and I quickly dropped to my knee to save it. It had straplocks installed on it within the next couple of days. Do as you please, but ever since that incident, any guitar that I ever intend to gig or jam with, will always have straplocks!
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

John: Have a close look at your avatar. Then say "Avatar, straplocks?" "Avatar straplocks?" "Avatar ... ?"
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: Strap Locks- took 'em off!
I've posted previously about strap locks from LM Products called "Sure-Lock" straps, and they make extentions to go on your existing strap. They work awesome on the vintage style Ric strap buttons. I have set for all my Rics.

Expect nothing and you'll never be disappointed (and I mean that in an optimistic way).

Straplocks, here!
Never leave home without them.
Re: Strap Locks- took 'em off!
Same thing happened to me that happened to Joey, only it was my 4001. Dunlop Strap Loks went on the next day. I use the Schallers now since that's what RIC uses.
Re: Strap Locks- took 'em off!
Straplocks, straplocks, straplocks... Always. I'd rather them be a bit difficult to get off that have 'em do it on their own. Besides, think of the price difference between your guitars and a strap. Why , m even try to change em, just get a different strap for each guitar. If I could weld 'em on, I'd do it...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Strap Locks- took 'em off!
Could not agree more cj. 6 Rics, 6 sets of straplocks, 6 straps is what I did.cjj wrote:, just get a different strap for each guitar....

Lot''s of good advice here on this thread !!!!
Re: Strap Locks- took 'em off!
I use the Schaller strap locks, too, but I also use locking straps (made by Planet Waves) with some of my instruments that currently don't have strap locks installed.

so relieved you refitted them. I have them on every guitar too.
