Now it is all about the wait

Post by bassman7365 »

Well, there it goes. Made my first purchase from e-bay and it turned out to be from a forumite. The payment has been sent and now it becomes an exercise in patience. Damn! I want it today, but an '81 Walnut 4001 will be worth the wait.

That's a great 4001 you've just bought. I know, I've played it. Congrats! I know you'll enjoy it!

I wasn't going to pull the trigger, but once you attested to his integrity I felt much better. Thank you Mr. Vasco

Very nice! Congratulations, Pete! Nothing like getting a new Rick, huh?

Any way you can post a link to the auction so we can see a few pics?

EDIT: And yes, the wait is just agonizing, isn't it!?

I think we'd all vouch for Tony. They don't come better. I feel for him letting this one go but you ended up with a very beautiful bass. Wish I'd known he was moving it.

Oh, you're gonna love the 70s 4001 sound.... :)

First, congratulations to Pete. He REALLY got lucky on this one!
I had my Ebay criteria set to not allow ZERO feedback bidders too!
It obviously was destined for Pete to have it.

Wish I'd known I was moving it too John!

It happened REALLY FAST and I HAD to move quickly.

Honestly, I thought someone in the UK would have snatched this up with a BIN.
LOL....38 "watchers"...must have been all RRF members!

I didn't post it here to save Joey the angst. :(
I know he REALLY wanted this one, but we couldn't pull it off.

I had a LOT of "is this a REAL RICKENBACKER or IS THIS A RE-FINISH?" questions. :?

I think selling a kidney would have been easier. This is my all time FAVORITE COLOR.
I'm REALLY glad it went to another forumite.

I actually gave Joey a hint I was looking to move it. As stunning as it is, the neck it just too chunky for my liking. I'm going through a phase of "am I playing it or not" and if I'm playing it....it stays...not, it goes.

BUT, Daniel's almost mint 1974 BG 4001 will be coming my way as soon as I can make the turn-around payment. SO Pete, you aren't the only one waiting.

After all is said and done, I'm going to order another 4004cii. I just want to make SURE I get one with the new two piece "thinner" neck.

There have been a few Ricks for sale here that I'm going crazy that I can't go for right now! The one Tony just sold Pete and the 4004L FG that Erik K is selling are two of them!

Congrats to Tony and Pete. Both of you guys enjoy your new Ricks! :)

T, you definitely need a Cii back in the herd! 8)
