So far, I'm with you. Never had any problems.

It was a genuine vintage Bobby Lee Sottile strap, one that he picked up inadvertently in our "museum" where that guitar used to live. It was probably from the early 1950's and the leather was totally dried out and falling apart- not a good choice of straps, especially considering that was the prototype for the Tom Petty Limited Edition!

I have some guitars with, and some without, but have been gradually moving over to straplocks within the last year; I rarely had problems, but I do move around quite a bit on stage, and I noticed that compared to when I played my Gretsches, with their stone age but effective strap lock buttons, I tended to move a bit less when playing a Rick, likely out of concern with the possibility that the strap might come off.

For my Ricks that still have the vintage buttons, I have Dunlop lokstraps, which work with the vintage type strap button.

I too have a strap for every guitar. It's always in the case with the guitar, so I never have to worry about forgetting my strap.

Even greater reason to be happy that he held onto the guitar!
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

These are not the greatest pics, but here is the LM Products Sure-Lock in action on my 480:
Drop it over the vintage button.....
Drop it over the vintage button.....
Slide it down to the end.....
Slide it down to the end.....
Close the hood and snap the latch. It hangs free to move around the thinnest part of the button like a loose bearing.

Expect nothing and you'll never be disappointed (and I mean that in an optimistic way).
