Jazzbo examples?
Having just read this articlle; http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/I ... ornia.aspx I am interested to learn if there are any (new) playing demos of the lovely jazzbo guitar?
Re: Jazzbo examples?
As far as I know, Paul W. has it.
I don't think there are any demo models out there. He builds to order and I don't think Paul has built any more Jazz-Bo's (Paul can certainly correct me.)
You might want to start looking at the conferences and confluences site to see when the annual SCARF is. I saw his Jazz-Bo at SCARF 2 years ago.

Re: Jazzbo examples?
According to the recent article in Premier Guitar Paul stated that he was not licenced to build Jazzbos other than the one. http://digital.premierguitar.com/premie ... 04_1#pg100

I heard about this article and now I finally get to see it. Nicely done and great profile piece. Way to go Paul.
If you do make JazzBos, let me know.

I did get a chance to play Paul's at a NAMM show - sweet. But that is the only one PW's been authorized to build.

Re: Jazzbo examples?
I'd love to hear some sound samples with the p/up PW has since installed. I've seen the guitar a few times, but never played it or plugged in so far as I can remember. I wonder what p/up RIC will use, if any, other than a piezo, when the company puts the model into production. It would be nice to have both acoustic sounds as well as some fat, jazzy tones.

Re: Jazzbo examples?
The guitar, pretty much as it currently looks. It's shown with a mini-humbucker, but I did not like the sound, so it now has a Tom Short single-coil jazz pickup, which is in any case more in keeping with the handbuilt nature of the guitar itself. The two pickups are identical except that the Short does not have adjustable polepieces.

Jerry's correct, JH allowed me to build this one (which took 13 months, on and off). RIC had one on display at NAMM 2007, which I think was the last time it was shown. Mine was based upon the one on display in the RIC collection, which I photographed and measured. I believe those to be two separate development prototypes, both finished in FG. There may be one more in John's collection, too. So mine is the third or fourth, and the only one I built.

Re: Jazzbo examples?
Any chance of:
1) taking a RIC pickup and adapting it, and
2) finding a "long" "R" tailpiece (360F) and adapting it?
Looks fantastic. I wish I had the time, the $$ and Mr. JH's permission for you to build me one!

Re: Jazzbo examples?
I do have a spare NOS long "R", but it looks over the top.
One of the originals has one of these Gibson tailpieces; so, right now it's a placeholder. I'm finally getting some ideas for an original.

Maybe something in this vein? But perhaps a little more Art Deco - to soften those hard lines ...jingle_jangle wrote:I do have a spare NOS long "R", but it looks over the top.

One of the Rickenbacker originals looks like it has this tailpiece on it:

Re: Jazzbo examples?
Not to worry.
Re: Jazzbo examples?
Paul, we're not "worrying." We're all just excited about a very, very fine instrument.
