Best of both worlds HB1

Post by VRICKY63 »

I finally purchased some used HB1 pickups from another forum member and installed them in my 2008 FG4003 4-2-5. I used to own a beautiful 4004Cii 4-2-5 (remember Mr Rath) with concentric pots wired for the single coil tap tone control. I loved that setup but the 4004 neck was just too bulky for my comfort level so away it went to a very happy new owner. I think the fact the 4003 is all maple really helps these pickups work in single coil mode. I'm enjoying having so much versatility with the quiet humbucking sound and being able to just roll the tone controls on full for that great single coil clank. The HB1s especially enhance the fat sound of the B string.

Wish I could but I'm a technology failure.
