Acoustic guitar strings
Can anyone recommend a good set? I'm talking about for use on my Gibson J-185. I have Martin Marquis on it, and for this guitar they are way to stiff. Any good sounding, lower tension brands y'all like? Thanks.

Jerry, try Newtone Heritage NHS-10 or NHS-11. Round core, 94-114 # per set.

You might like to try the SIT Royal Bronze strings:

We've been using these for awhile, having had some prototypes some years back. Hard to say on the tension issue but I do know we vastly preferred the sound of this SIT string over the Martins and other brands that we tested.

Thanks, gents.
Re: Acoustic guitar strings
Give 'John Pearse' strings a try...or read up on them first if you like...I use them on my Taylor LKSM 12 and Martin HD-28 and am happy with their sound and feel....
Re: Acoustic guitar strings
How would the SIT Royal work on RIC acoustics? John or anyone given them a try? I am looking for something a bit lighter and less brassy than Martins.

Well, I can tell you what not to use, and that's Elixir Nanowebs. Too stiff...
