Jangle Box?

Jangle Box?
This is probably subjective, but, I'm curious as I've never used one before & am going to demo one to probably buy.
What Settings do you recommend on Jangle Box?
I'll be trying one out at a Music store. I'll take my 2010 Ric 360 12 String with me. I doubt if they will have a Vox AC15 with Alnico Blue like mine to play it thru though. But they will more than likely have a new Vox AC15C1 so I'll get a good idea of the Sound, Jangle & Tone.
Thanks in advance for your recommendations,
Glenn

Re: Jangle Box?
Good question! I'll be watching for the answers. I have never used a compressor with any of my electric 12-strings and have generally been satisfied with the sound. I recently switched to a multi-effects unit (Boss ME-70) that has a compressor as on of the "stompboxes". More generically, what settings (expressed as positions on a clock) do you use for attack, sustain, etc. That will at least give me a starting point.

Re: Jangle Box?
You don't even need to ask the question.
If you play a Rickenbacker and you want 'that' sound, then you need a Janglebox.
No other compressor comes close, and believe me, I've tried just about all of them.
I currently have 2 Jangleboxes on my Pedalboard. The old style and the JB2.
There is a subtle difference between them, with the JB2 having a bit more 'oompf', but both are equally great.
Don't worry about asking for settings either, it won't take you long to find the 'sweet spot' for your rig.
Enjoy!

Jangle Box?
Glenn, there are several threads here on the RRF where folks have discussed their Janglebox settings. I have seen a couple of postings where RRF-ers have indicated their JB's dials are cranked all the way. Myself, I have both the Gain and Attack knobs at the one or two o'clock positions. But I find that for me, a lot depends upon the amp, the amp settings and how much drive/gain is being used on the amp, as well as the size of the room, and if the P.A. system feedsback at all through the guitar amps, etc.
Mateybob is correct, -- it won't take you long to find your own sweet spot. Enjoy the JB experience !
And run a search on Janglebox and JB and you'll find a lot of postings.

Re: Jangle Box?
just some general compressor tips: attack to a plucky sound on the muted g string couple, sustain to where soft and hard sound the same. volume and tone knobs to where there is no noticeable coloring of the sound. That's a good place to start.

Re: Jangle Box?
Anyone wanting that classic Rickenbacker jangle, but still on the fence about getting a JangleBox, should go to the recordings by members forum and check out a song recently posted, called "Give it Back". The Chapmeister used an orignal Janglebox on his recording and the Rick sounds realllly nice. Tom

I'm a Jangle Box/Vox AC-15 fan, too. Thing is I can't improve on what every one else has already said.

Re: Jangle Box?
Glenn,
I've been running my 330/12 through a Janglebox JB2 and into a solid state Fender Princeton Chorus amp for about a year. I have the treble and bass knobs on the amp at about 3:00 and the Bass and Treble on the JB2 at around 3:00. The Gain on my JB2 usually stays at around 10:00, the Level for the JangleBoost at around 9:30, and the Attack control at around 3:00. I have had no problems with shrill tone or feedback at all, even though the Attack and Treble are almost maxed out. Keep in mind what others have said about fine tuning the settings to suit your gear/ear. With a little experimentation you'll find that "sweet spot," and you'll conclude, like me, that the Janglebox is one of the best tone investments you've ever made.

Re: Jangle Box?
Thanks for all the feedback. Now I have an idea where to adjust everything when I go to try it out.
Much appreciated,
Glenn

Glenn,
Did you ever get the chance to audition a Janglebox? You might check www.janglebox.com for their online sound clips.

Re: Jangle Box?
Are there any news about the release date of the Byrds edition JB ?
Re: Jangle Box?
We've signed off on the enclosure and the final circuit proto is done. Once our assembler tests the proto, we'll be into production. Should be to market in six weeks, eight tops. (I know I've said "we're close" before, but we're really pushing now.)xpitt wrote:Are there any news about the release date of the Byrds edition JB ?
