hi, though i've been lurking about here for a while, I finally registered officially.
My partner and I cover a lot of Beatles tunes in our sets but we are NOT a Beatles Tribute band.
This is our take on Ticket to RIde... would appreciate your giving it a listen and any feedback you might have

Re: ticket to ride
Welcome, George!
Nicely done as a cover piece ... it retains enough of the original, yet has a good 'twist' to the song.
Every time I hear a good cover like that it makes me want to put up on You Tube a very old recording of my 1970s band's cover of Alice Cooper's Eighteen ... it is unique.

Re: ticket to ride
Welcome George. Thanks for sharing your Ticket To Ride. I want to jump aboard the same train and say that you have made it your own. Well done.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: ticket to ride
I like this cut---it is smooth, has a California feel, as if the Eagles were covering the tune---nice recording. When us RRfers cover Beatles, it does not necessarily HAVE to sound 'zactly like the original. You guys have your own trademark on this one. Question---I don't hear a 12-string....am I correct?thymecube wrote:This is our take on Ticket to RIde... would appreciate your giving it a listen and any feedback you might have

Really good -- I like it a lot!
Any truth that the original title was "Ticket to Rye"? I thought that I read that somewhere, and that it got changed by music execs to Ticket to Ride.

Re: ticket to ride
hey vynesmusic,
thanks to you and everyone who liked the tune!
no.... sorry to say no 12 string... rick or otherwise... wish I still had the 66 blonde 360 I foolishly sold long ago... oh well I am hoping there is another in my future ... and that keeps me going! nece my lurking at this site!
Meanwhile I find that the next closest sound for me is my Fender Power Nashville -- a tele with three pickups and piezzo bridge pickups (power) which i run in stereo ... so electronically I do have two guitars..... "12 strings"
In case you're interested the other half of BIG SON is Danny who was playing the keyboard, right hand bass and ... please hold the tomatoes... drum machine!

I have the Ed Sullivan Show Beatles dvd, and they played "Ticket" with George on the Country Gentleman.....their time slot was so rushed, they did not have time to switch to the Rick...very interesting....
