Any feedback on the 650D. Has it lived up to expectations?

I Like mine very much. Especially the wider neck feels good to me after a way to small 480. I must say that I found that there is a volume gap between neck and bridge pickup. But I like the sound of it with both pickups on best.

I've got a 650S, and it's my main guitar.

I've often thought of the 650 as the Rickenbacker that can handle the styles of music you wouldn't normally associate the 360/330/620/660 models with, such as blues or heavy metal.

In fact, a buddy of mine actually THOUGHT the 650 was Ric's attempt at a metal guitar.

Yep, that's the idea Jake. There is a good quite from JH in the Bacon & Day book that sums it up pretty good, but my copy seems to have gone missing?

How would you compare the Ric mini-hums to say, vintage Gibson Firebird pickups, NOT the current ones!
