New to you I gather? Congrats, she's a stunner!
Burgandy is one of my favorite Ric colors, & one that I wish was still available (along with white, Ruby & Azureglo).

I bought this one in 1978, had it ever since. One of my favorite basses of all time!

Awesome! I love the mid-'70s 4000 basses. Definitely a keeper! Glad you've had it for so long.

Super nice!
The BG is gorgeous!
The 4000 is the best Rick bass for punk IMHO.... No frills and no silly neck pickup to mellow down the roar!

I really do love how clean this model looks and it is easy to use! Ha ha!
For twenty five years I had roundwounds on my 4000 but now have TI flats. Still, I think the 4000 just comes alive with rounds, so I think I will go back to that configuration. I prefer the flats on my 4001C64, as the neck PU just does something amazing with the tone.

Re: 4000 Burgundyglo
she's a beauty,looks like a new bass!
i purchased my 74 4000 off the bay about 9-10 years ago,it is a bit battered and yellowed, but i love it. When i had roundwounds on it, it was a snarling beast, but i have really rediscovered this bass since putting 60's maxima flats on it. it just has a crisp clarity to it with the treble contol opened up,and a wicked cutting jazz bass bridge pickup-type tone with the tone control rolled off. i play in a couple of different bands here, and the 4000 has become my main bass with my more pop/vocal acoustic/electric oriented group.

Always, always, ALWAYS wanted a 4000. And a 4001S...anything with a dot neck.
This 4000 is very impressive!

Nice bass...
Re: 4000 Burgundyglo
Sometimes I feel like I see so many really nice basses on this forum that I've gotten jaded... then one like this comes along! I especially like the wood grain in that last photo - gorgeous!
I'm sure it sounds great as it is... but have you considered putting in a reissue horseshoe? I have one in my 4001, and when I solo it, it's about the best single-pickup sound I can imagine. I think it would be just perfect for a 4000.

Turn on, tune up, rock out!
