Rickenbacker 360/12 vs Taylor T5 12

Post by steambyrd »

Being the owner of a 360/12 and a 370/12, I was curious if anyone here has had a chance to compare the sound of these to the Taylor T5 12 string? None of the local stores here have the T5 12 string to audition.

I didn't care for the T5-12 when I tried it. Too much mid-range for my taste-no "Jangle". Some may like the sound, but if a Rick is your benchmark, the T5 is OFF the mark.

I'm also curious as to the amp type. I play my Ricks and Fender electrics primarily with my Fender Deluxe Reverb amp,
but my acoustic/electrics I plug into my Fishman SA220 (SoloAmp.) I haven't tried the Rick with the Fishman, but need to take the time to do so.

I played it at Buffalo Bros. when the model first came out, so it's been a while. I'm sure the amp would have been something I'm familiar with; such as a Deluxe Reverb, Twin Reverb, Blues Deluxe. I always set Fender amps with Bass and Treble between 8-10. If there's a Mid, I set it at 0-2 and play around.

The first thing I would do to it is string it up "Rickenbacker" style. :P
