I'm not much for the 4000 in general, but yours I do like.

Looks.... how can I say this without sounding effeminate Image..... cute.

Your 4000 is very cute. Love the faded, non-harsh Fireglo. Image Image

Love that 4000.. The others are very nice also. Just got a soft spot for old 4000's. Here's why:

I was in a pawn shop on second street in Dayton OH back in about '77 and saw an EXC++++ Jetglow 4000 for believe it or not $175.00, I was young and arrogant, and at the time had no idea what a 4000 was.(thought since it didnt have the neck PU that they were trying to pass off a cheap copy.) I only new of the 4001 that Geddy Lee played. I even accused the guy behind the counter of trying to rip people off......

Geeeeez, what an a** I was.....OK, whewwww!, Annnnnnnnnnny way,

Great basses, great pics.

It has the transitional hi gain in for a pickup, (it has screwtop pole pieces.)I have not decided what to do with it yet. Maybe if I was playing more Squeeze...

What's the date of manufacture on the 4000? 1972?
And what about the pickguard on it? Looks like a replacement (control knob layout is unusual, plus the pickguard is closer to the p.u. surround than it's supposed to on early 70s 4000 series basses).
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

the 4000 is an early 73 and the pickguard is a replacement. That is how it came to me...somebody got wise and routed for a P bass pickup underneath. MB xxx is where we end up for serial number. I have thought about getting a correct pickguard for it...depends on whether I keep it or not...

Jaymi ... I kinda like the mapleglo one ... is that one currently unfinished? ... mapleglo and black and fireglo ... 3 classic ric finishes ...

also the metal plate makes the leo quan bridge more pleasing ...
