Fingerboard Material
Was curious to know if RIC has ever used a rosewood burl for their fingerboards? The fingerboard on my 4001 has the classic burl pattern, while my 4003 clearly shows the straight grain. Should have asked at MARF IV, but in Ric inebriation it slipped my mind

Re: Fingerboard Material
The rosewood Ric uses for their fingerboards is bubinga, and the grain patterns can vary quite a bit. Of my five Ric basses (all 2008 or newer), three of the fingerboards have some very nice figuring, while the other two have fairly straight grain patterns.

Re: Fingerboard Material
The fingerboard on your 4001 is most likely Hong Kong rosewood, which despite the name doesn't come from Asia.bassman7365 wrote:Was curious to know if RIC has ever used a rosewood burl for their fingerboards? The fingerboard on my 4001 has the classic burl pattern,
