Like so many others I lurked awhile before making the plunge.

I've decided to take my '63 4000 out of retirement and start using it again after twenty years. More posts and comments when I have time but salivate over this for a while. Finger rest is being replaced this weekend.

+1! 8) 8) 8)

 Wowza, that is in nice condition. How well is the pickup working? I mean, many do tend to lose their magnetism after so very long.

Pickup works like it did when I got it back in 1971! I haven't noticed any performance issues.

Welcome to the Forum, Dennis.

From the looks of the pics, your '63 still looks like it's in great shape.... :D

For not ever having anything done to it (except for me having to put it back together when my buddy brought it over in pieces back in 1971) it is in great shape!

Here's a newer picture taken today with the correct (reproduction) finger rest.

I'd say that's cause for celebration.

Thanks guys/gals(?)!

When I get some time I'll record something so you can hear what it sounds like. Just don't expect anything flashy!

Anybody want a wallpaper? I was playing around with my photo today in PhotoShop when i should have been working.

How did I miss this one!

Dennis, that is one beautiful early 60's bass. I love the simplicity of the 4000 and this is one of the best original examples I have seen.

Congratulations and take good care of her!
