Is that the original finish on this 430?

This white 430 on ebay looks new,is this the original finish or was the body finished?The headstock looks like Mapleglo does this look right?

Looks mucked with. Should have lightly-sprayed finish on wood. Mine is mahogany natural, though they also came in maple and JG. Bolt-on necks were also maple, so MG headstock is correct. White vintage TRC looks wrong--should be black vintage, silver script. Toaster pickups are wrong...

My 430 (JG) has the same white TRC. I bought the guitar in the early 1980s from a friend who was the original owner, so I'm pretty confident it is original stock.

There certainly have been mods to this one, though - the toasters, as Paul points out, plus the second switch above the pickup selector switch.

Rickbeat and other sources say this guitar was in production in three versions, from 1975 through 1982. Most common are the natural finished wood ones, less so are those in other colors. The latest had 2V2T; earlier ones 1V1T. This could be factory, save the pickups and 2nd (phase?) switch. The finish certainly is a good job, judging from the photos, and it would be over a maple body, so that could be factory as well.

So I would say the finish is original myself.

The TRC and pickups have been changed for sure.. The factory would not send out a guitar with a white trc and black pick guard

The Sn on this latest white 430 is Oi 5075 i think. Sept 1975. Hard to be sure from the one picture. I can read Ox x075 clearly enough.

He is asking about $400 to much for it to sell i think...

Can't say for sure without seeing it in person..

But the finish on a 430 was a bit different then regular guitars of the era... They had much much less gloss = much more matt. Even my JG 430 is less shiny then the rest...

And it is the glossy part of a the guitar that ambers I think...

Most of them are Jason.....but there are a few out there which have managed to stay white.
