Can anyone explain what my pickup combinations are & the 5th knob's effect on them? I've yet to be able to make sense out of any explanations I've gotten so far. FWIW, I believe it's a '98 or '99 with toasters.
Thanks-in-Advance,
Tony

5th knob works in the middle position. on a two pickup guitar it controls the neck volume allowing you to preset a middle position sound without altering the neck pickup volume when the selector is in the up position.
Since on a 370 with standard wiring the neck and middle pickups are coupled together i'd guess it's working on both of them.

Yep, that's how my 370 WB works.parker_knoll wrote:5th knob works in the middle position.

That's how my old '89 1997SPC worked and I know the 1998 Townshend and 340 models also work this way.
There are a few folks who've wired the middle pickup direct to the blend knob for a wider variety of tones. Dave Kim, Howard "Aitch" Bishop and Clint Lowell are three of them
Roger McGuinn's signature 370/12 has three knobs for volume only, plus a master volume and onboard compressor. However, thanks to Gary Clauson showing my his McGuinn in person, I learned that the toggle switch works the same on the 370/12 McGuinn like any other three pickup Ric.

Ok, so it controls how much middle AND neck gets combined with the bridge in the middle position...correct?

You can also use 5th knob to roll off volume on bridge PU if you have 3-way swtich set to bridge PU only or to roll off volume on neck/middle PU if you have 3-way switch set toor neck/middle PU only.
