Wow what started out as a thread on sig guitars went to where Rod Serling is the twilight zone.

Coast Guard! Don't forget the Coast Guard, Ben! In my family we love the "Puddle Navy!"

(Sorry, inside joke - I'm an ex Navy Chief, my father still serves as a CG Auxiliary Captain. I love to tease him about being a "puddle pirate". No offense to any CG vets out there...)

There is a reason I only did 4 years in the Navy. Had fun and went to cool places, but talk about a messed up organization. No the the CG is much better, but at least better.

Well, you're in the right state to do such a thing... Don't forget to wax it down and sell it uptown. (If anyone wants to buy it - supply & demand after all) 8)

jingle_jangle wrote:Yeah, Scott, I was kind of wondering if it would hit you the wrong way. I do get a bit wordy, and though your own tone implies "wordsmith" is a pejorative, if its pure meaning is "writer"--well, I spend several hours a day writing as part of my profession.
Not at all, Paul. I was a professional wordsmith at one point and do not see it pejoratively. I only meant to compare the words to the tone and found the word to be useful.
Detroit is not "a bit rubbish" in my book. I just feel that the irony is that the very men who benefited most from keeping it alive and bustling, were responsible for its current condition, through greed, short-sightedness, and neglect, spread out over three generations.
I agree with this to a large part and feel it's the very reason the Lions are the worst football team in the last 40 years. Hmmm... odd how that timeline coincides with your earlier statement. Correlation? Likely since it's a Ford-owned team and owned by the elder Ford. :(
Don't be defensive about Detroit. My comments are in earnest. You won't hear any Detroit jokes from me.
My intent was only to educate and while I agree you have more knowledge on Detroit than others, a lot of people think north of Toledo is just a nuclear wasteland from the stories they've heard.

And sometimes, that suits me simply because I don't have to deal with tourists.

Nice to see some Zappa fans on the site. Can anyone loan me a pair of zircon-encrusted tweezers? Zappa's SG guitar was not a Gibson it was made by a guy and sold to FZ for about 600. So who would make that is anyone's guess. I had the pleasure of seeing him 3 times. I am sure the Dweez has the pleasure of playing all his dad old guitars.

Frank was great. Many casual listeners did not get his music but it resonated well with those of us that did. :D

Since every member of the Forum has chimed in, I don't want to be left out. Kids should have a Blink 24-7 or whatever signature guitar. Why should only guys as old as their grandpas have sig guitars? They've probably got that "This new music ain't as good as the glory days" spiel their whole lives, subliminaly at least. But it's true. All music but the stuff I likes sucks.

Enough of my rant. Back to wirk.

I saw FZ and the MOI in 1972; the original Mahavishnu Orchestra opened for them. 8)

BTW, anybody want some peanutbutter cookies?
