What are these people thinking? that they are the only one on the planet who know about both GC sales and e-bay?

I would store mine and wait a year if I wanted to speculate on it.

I don't know that GC has "lowered" the value of these guitars. It seems to me that it's more accurate to say that they are now finding their own level. At $1800, supply far exceeded demand. For that matter, it seems that many of the folks who bought at sale price did so with the hope of flipping it for a quick profit. It remains to be seen if that's a smart investment or if they will get stuck with a guitar that nobody wants.
You want to put that where?

My opinion on this is as with all things there are multiple factors in the equation. It appears that only those that were able to physically get to a GC store were able to pick these up. As many people do not live anywhere near a GC store the option of buying one on ebay at a price a little higher than GC's sale price, but still a very good price may seem attractive, thereby resulting in the ebay sales. I guess the big question as always is are there more buyers or sellers at these prices and will they rise or drop in the future as stated in the previous post.

at 1800 bucks, I'd put it in my closet. At 800, I'd play it out at gigs.

To sell them at the 800 buck range, where is the GC cost line in all of this? Well below, a little below, break even? Just check them off at a loss? Not good.

My local GC had a 2 of these last winter. When I picked one up to check it, out one of the guitar managers stated that "those are the (crapiest) guitars in the store." With that type of an attitude it is no wonder they aren't selling. They were still there over the summer.

There is no doubt that these are niche instruments. They serve a pupose for what they are. Maybe a must for a Beatles tribute band, or just a collector.

This will probably lower the resale for the next few months, but in time it will just be a blip on the radar screen. Once they are all gone from GC and Ebay the old supply and demand will take over along with the economy and the amount of discretionary cash that people have to spend.

I guess that's my discretionary 2 cents worth!

Just for kicks I went to Elderly for a price quote. I know that they aren't as competitive on Ricks as Rhoads and some of the others, but they are usually are pretty close. I know you can't beat them for Martin pricing and some others. Once these at GC are gone I doubt any of the other stores will be droping their price that drastically. Who else would have as many as GC does nationwide? Ed Roman? Ha Ha! Any way here is the response:

There was no price break for GC. Mr. John Hall has stated in other threads and on other boards that GC OVER-ORDERED despite warnings from Rickenbacker that they wouldn't sell (not the quantity ordered at least). GC didn't believe him, ordered them anyways, and now is stuck with them. Mr. John Hall has personally stated elsewhere that people should take advantage of GC's mistake! Personally, I hope GC over orders the 325c64!

I purchased some of the C58's from a couple GC's and sold some immediately.

If anyone is interested please email me as I still have 5 of these guitars for sale. From good to near mint condition...for the collector or player. Let me know if you want one. Prices range from $975-$1,350.

Also, from what a couple different store managers told me, GC does not plan on stocking Ricks but will order them on an individual case basis.
