4003/5

Post by fabandgear »

This is a pic of me with my friend Scott's 4003/5FG. I can't remember exactly, but I think it's around 1988 or '89.

Nice one, Forrest! Your friend's S/5 is probably is about '88 or '89 with the fatter horns. Great 5 string basses, but they were over-looked by most fingerstyle players due to the narrow string spacing.
I got used to playing mine fingerstyle after practicing enough. Of all my bass guitars, it's the one I play most with a pick. My '97:

OOOH! Another one of those Midnight Blue goodies! Man, that is a SHARP color! I still bet they taste as good as they look!

It's definitely an attention getter. My lousy photography doesn't do justice to it's color. I always get compliments on it's looks and sound.

So is it that I am a new member that my pic size is limited?

No, you should be able to "attach" pictures up to 1200x1200. Using the "Img" button allows up to 800x600 only...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

That's a beauty! I would be disappointed if I don't get to try that one out at some point!

That's a beautiful S/5 in your picture as well, Forrest! Sorry your thread got hijacked by midnight blue!

I'm a firm fan of the S/5 and truly enjoy my 86 model.

As Joey said, it's difficult to learn using fingerstyle but after you finger out how to attack the strings when they're that close, it's not too bad at all.

I play mine mostly fingerstyle although I've dabbled with picks more lately.

Great pic of the Fireglo S/5.
