Actually, that could not be part of any reissue series as it never existed in the past with all those features. Maybe, but the hard working genius may have learned the hard way that it was needed, especially with some over-zealous players preventing excessive leverage. Or could it create issues with the spring having the mounting screw under it? BTW, for some insight on how a hardworking genius lives and works, pick up a copy of Andy Babiuk's book on Bigsby. Immensely satisfying and one of the best guitar-related books of the past decade. It comes with a CD of some of Paul's tape-recorded "letters" home when he was traveling in Europe.
He sounds like he looks.
It makes me think that somehow, like everything else these days, when they try to make it more compact or simplistic, other issues are created.
