Volume off, sound still comes through the amp

A friend just got a new 650. When the neck pu volume is on 10, bridge on 0, selector on bridge, sound of playing can still be heard through the amp. The same occurs when reversing guitar settings. The guitar is new, pu's are wired to selector switch, to caps, and to volume pots. Looking for solution to cut sound when pu's are turned off.
