Dear friends at RickResource
I'm a Rickenbacker fan and I proudly own a 4001 custom shop.
Now I'd need to replace poor sounding active electronics on a 5 strings doubleneck bass.
I'd like to have that typical Ricky sound.
I tried on the internet to find out some options... but Barden, Rickenbacker, Seymour Duncan... they only produce 4 strings replacement pickups.
Any idea ? Can I obtain that sound on a 5 strings ? which pickup/options suggested ?
Thank you all,
Fab

Welcome Fabiano. Look out for some used factory RIC 5 string pickups or you can use RIC HB1 humbuckers or toasters. The HB1's have rails for pole pieces and the toasters have 6 poles. Either will work well.

What brand/model is this doubleneck bass Also, what is the string spacing at the pickup positions, as this is an important criteria. Have you tried bypassing the active electronics in the bass, this could be the issue, instead?
Re: "Ricky" good sounding 5 strings pickups ?
That "typica Ricky sound" comes from the bass more than it comes from the pickups. Active electronics would actually help here.
PS:What's a "4001 custom shop"?

Welcome to the forum, Fabiano!
A custom shop 4001? Are you talking about a real Rickenbacker? Can we see pictures?
