Here's our buddy Dan Erlewine, showing how to make a fretless out of a fretted bass, using binding to fill in the fret slots and super glue as a fretboard finish...

Well, although it's certainly not beyond Mr. Erlewine's skills, it would be beyond most amateurs', and would not sell any binding, fret pulling pliers, sanding blocks or super glue, either.

Seriously though, is super glue actually a decent fretboard finish?

Yep, although I have my doubts as to durability. I've seen an article by Erlewine in which he finished an entire bass, body and neck, with super glue. There's a trick to doing it, and there's a lot of sanding afterward to smooth it out. It uses a lot of glue, and since StewMac sells it in tiny quantities, profits are good.

I buy mine for $45.00 for 16 ounces from a source in MA, but I certainly don't finish with it. I might add that super glue doesn't have any UV inhibitors, so look for yellow or even orange streaks in a decade or so.

I got to see this FL at SCARF. It's even more awesome in person! I wanted to take it home with me, trade Paul something for it! I should have used on a song whether the song needed a fretless bass or not.

For yous guys that don't appreciate Jetglo: :P :P :P :P
