My New 620MB

Post by popmerchant »

Hey all! I posted months ago about trying to track down a 620 in Montezuma Brown. Well, I ended up reserving the one that The Music Zoo had on order already. I'm happy to say that it's finally here!!! I've only had it for 2 days, but it sounded GREAT at band practice tonight! I'll probably have to put some thicker strings on it, but other than that, I'm loving it! What a beautiful guitar! I posted a few pics for those that might be interested... http://www.bowlink.com/RIC-620MB

I also wanted to mention what a pleasure it was dealing with Tim at the Music Zoo. He was very helpful in the beginning of my search, even though I wasn't originally gonna get it from his shop. Great guy, great store, and really great prices on RICs, actually. He was the best price I found anywhere. He just told me the other day that they have been getting in a lot of RICs lately, so you might want to check out their site to see if they have what you've been looking for... http://www.themusiczoo.com

Anyway, enjoy the pics while I enjoy this fine guitar!

Congrats, John! A very pretty guitar! As an incentive for others to go see the pictures, here's one as a teaser:

John, I hope you don't mind my placing one of your pictures in the thread. That's a guitar that definitely deserves to be seen ... and heard!

Hey Gary... I don't mind you putting the pics in the thread. I'm not sure how to do that myself, so that's why I just put a link. heh heh

I'll tell you what... the finish on that guitar is unbelievable! It's like a work of art! Personally, I think the Montezuma Brown is the coolest of the RIC finishes. It looks so nice, and really, in my mind, gives it that cool vinatge look.

This is my first RIC with the "R" tail-piece, and it looks like it might be a bit tricky to string. Anyone have any methods that make it as painless as possible?

Thanks!

Just when I thought I had my GAS under control you go posting pictures of that beautiful new 620.

Sure looks nice!

As for changing the strings I think it's probably easier to repace them one at a time so that the tailpiece stays in place.

John, I searched the forum for "restringing R tailpiece" and found these postings that should be useful:
