If I had not run out of film at the time I would have had photos of it when Roger Newell was playing it in '75. I was right in front of him the whole time, too, at the edge of the stage, this was during Rick Wakeman's King Arthur tour. As compensation, I do have some excellent photos of Gentle Giant, who opened for RW!

BTW: I have also seen the triple-neck up close---in Chris Squire's hands. I have even talked with him about it.

I saw Gentle Giant in Balboa Park, San Diego, 1977. Hadn't heard of them before. That was with Gary Wright, Peter Frampton, and Yes.

I just watched the "Tsongas" DVD again, and still wonder, He plays his Ranney 8-string, both Moradians, the Electra MPC, a Carvin LB76A, and a Martin acoustic along with his Rickenbacker. How does he balance his signal between the active basses with the passive ones?

Each basses wireless unit probably has the level trimmed to suit, either that or the sound guy does a swifty every bass change...

Got around to this today. I failed to spot the tongue, but there's Moncton, sure enough.

Also, the constellation tells me that the show I saw must have been 18 July 1976.

Going back to the Telecaster Bass,
Did Chris buy it already modded or did he have it done?
I dont remember any interviews mentioning the actual modification history.
I recently enquired about a Fender Custom Shop version for myself and it could cost up to £4000!
I could buy an original 1968 Tele Bass for less.

Go old and do it yourself. I have a '57 Gibson ES-225TD with P-90 pups on it. It's claim to fame is it was Gibson's first thinline hollowbody. It is light as a feather and the neck is so slim it feel totally different that any of my other axes.

Some posts mention that on certain Yes studio recordings, Chris Squire sometimes chose to use a 4-string bass other than The RM 1999. In many of these tracks, the change in sound is hard for me to detect, even after it's been pointed out that the bass is not his RM 1999.

Do any of you know of any Squire interviews in which he explains why he uses a different 4-string?

On Remembering (High the Memory) he play fretless Jazz Bass

It was a Guild fretless (similar to a Gibson EB/SG style body) on The Remembering.
Onstage for the YFTO tour it was on a stand.
The fretted Jazz was used on The Ancient and also an Earthwood acoustic bass for the Leaves Of Green section.
(as with Chris's eight string Rickenbacker bass,John Entwistle also had an identical Earthwood acoustic bass)
I think Chris used the Jazz bass on To Be Over on the Relayer album and Parallels on the GFTO album.
Clips of the Queens Park Rangers ground concert have some good shots of the Jazz.
