Re: New YES Album.."Fly From Here"
in the dan hedges yes book, yes did a full scale u.k. tour before the album came out in late '73 also playing 4 sold out nights at the rainbow theatre in london playing the whole tfto album. critics hated it. then the u.s. tour starting in feb. '74,miami to atlanta to baltimore and madison square gardens, the enthusiasm was not very good even though the venues were packed to the rafters.they then dropped two sides afterwards to keep the audience awake and inject more of the old stuff.

i am pretty sure they did the whole of TFTO in memphis, with Rick on that tour,it was a very strange concert, the venue was the cook convention center, and i believe it may have been the first time a full scale concert was done there-it was not a very conducive hall to present a big rock show in. yes usually played in the coliseum when they visited memphis.
Re: New YES Album.."Fly From Here"
That was the first time I saw yes as well - Baltimore Civic Center and Gryphon opened there too.jps wrote: I first saw Yes in November '74, the start of the Relayer tour, although they did do side 4 of TFTO. The opening act was Gryphon.

getting back to the op,i just happened to be youtubing today, and found quite a few live posts of the yuggles, which were suprisingly decent audio quality,of "fly from here","into the lens",and several others, from a rochester concert they did...check them out! (sorry no linkies!)
Re: New YES Album.."Fly From Here"

Re: New YES Album.."Fly From Here"
Is it July 12th, yet?
Re: New YES Album.."Fly From Here"
Interesting, hope it all goes well with the new album.
On the previous subject of TFTO,I was at Manchester Free Trade Hall for the TFTO shows on the front row with my two brothers and we were in between Chris and Rick.
We had a great view of the show and my attention was on Chris who was really concentrating the whole time.
Rick came on first for the second half and quickly went to the Hammond to play "Theres no business like showbusiness" which was typical of him being a joker but in retrospect it was probably his skit on the whole thing.
After the show (which my younger brother hated as no one had heard the new LP and he wished we had been at a Bowie concert instead) a bunch of us talked to Eddie Offord at the mixing desk and I asked about the reel to reel tape machines.
He told us about the intro tape and CTTE sound effects etc. and said that they record every show on (pointing to another tape machine) this one.
So I presume someone has the tapes of the Tales tour somewhere.
Also on the Relayer tour there was mention of initial footage for a second Yessongs type of film so theres possibly another bunch of stuff somewhere.
Lets hope some of it shows up before it rots away.

Re: New YES Album.."Fly From Here"
I always thought that the Drama lineup had unfinished business and here is the proof...
It sounds like yes and Trevor to his credit has not overproduced at all. I found it uncanny that Beniot sounds like a cross between Trevor and Jon.
I Know Jon will be missed but Beniot is a fitting replacement (and dare I say it, has better pitch).
Jon was a master at keeping Yes focused but did need to lighten up a bit at times (Tormato was not the greatest album but did have some moments)
I would like to see Jon at the helm again even to guest, but I would not like to see Beniot sidelined just to have Jon back.
This sounds like a Yes without internal stress......
emac.
