FYI
Tonights episode of the T.V. show Pawn Stars is supposed to feature a 1934 Rickenbacker "frying pan" guitar. The show airs on cable's History channel. It should be in the second of back to back episodes.

Just came up to post this - 10:30 PM Eastern time. These shows repeat fairly often, and Saturday or Sunday marathons are not uncommon.

Jesse from Cowtown Guitars was the expert. Rick ended up buying it for $1500.
I love watching the show, but I take it with a huge grain of salt. A couple of years ago, a guy came on the show with what he claimed was a '60 Les Paul Custom. As soon as it came out of the case you saw a volute and witch hat knobs, so you knew it was a Norlin era guitar. The guy left disappointed - or so it seemed. It turned out that the prospective seller was a luthier at Cowtown.....

I concur. The show's totally scripted. A friend of mine was on vacation in Vegas and visited the shop. He and his wife saw the guys at the back of the store, meeting with producers and learning their lines for that episode. Still, it's a fun show to watch and certainly informative. I especially liked the episode where a woman brought in a Faberge brooch and didn't have any idea of the value, only wanting a few thousand dollars for it. It was apparently worth $30,000-$35,000!
