New White 4003

Post by Islandboy »

Newbie to the site, and to Rics. Always LOVED them, and finally pulled the trigger on a JetGlo.
Quick question : A few months ago when I was initially looking, there was a brand new White
4003 for sale (I believe it was on Ebay). If memory serves me correct it went for around $2500.
Anyone know what the story on that bass is ? Will white be offered again in the future, or
was that a "one - off" situation ?
Im partial to white Bases, and would like to add a new or newer one to the JG .

Any info would be appreciated.

That was a factory one-off:

I wouldn't hold my breath for regular runs of white from RIC. JH has said no, too many dust problems and too big a backlog.

There is this white one for sale now though:

There is a white 4003:

And our own Paul Boyer's V63 refin:

Oh, and welcome aboard!

DOH! I forgot about that. Yes, you need 30 posts then you have access to the Marketplace area. Keeps out the hit-and-run types.

Actually three, a 4003, a Tuxedo, and the above mentioned V63, but there is pending sales on all but the V63. This is rare to see here at the RRF.
Welcome to the forum Richard.
The one listed above on ebay now has a reduced price.

White is the best colour for a ric bass IMO.

I have this;
Its a 4001CS that I re-finned to look a bit like the Maurice Gibb bass I once owned (Wints has the original).
I havent used it that much and if I need to use it as a trade in I might part with it eventually.
I have the CS pickguard and its certificate.
This one has a Rick bakelite nut to emulate the 60s basses.
A re-finish is always an option if a white 4001/3 isnt available.

If your really into white, just get a refin job on your 4003. I love white Ricks, especially with white and chrome hardware.
