2000 series question - felt washers

2000 series bass owners step up - I need to know the approximate size of the washers that go under the knobs on these elusive beasts.* Also, need to know if there are those or any other type of separating thing between the circuit board and the wood on the inside, where the pots come through the body. Grati amelie!

* A place to purchase such washers would be helpful too, if you know of one.

Didn't anyone ever tell you that size doesn't matter, it's how you use your instrument!

Actually, anything smaller than the knobs I gave you would work just fine. This would be one source:

I don't recall there being anything between the wood and the PCB, as the PCB is supposed to be fastened to the back plate you have with little standoffs.

I was curious to see what was under the hood of my 2030 and finally took the step to open things.

The only washer like thing I see is the thing between my thumb and finger. It is not between knob and body, but in the hole for the shaft of the pot's (not sure if shaft is a correct word here).

I will keep it open for a day or so, so If you need more pictures I can take them.

Bert, shaft is the correct word. That plastic part looks like a centering bushing to keep the shaft from moving putting undue pressure on the pot and wearing it out or breaking it.

Ah, now I see myself. The bushing has a wider part. The wider part is on the outside of the bass (not in the cavity) and works like a washer.

I had totally forgotten about those bushings! They were too cool for school, as they impinged slightly on the ribs of the pot and made them feel like wire-wound pots. The knobs and pots on these always had a really nice robust feel as a result.

Uhhhhh....I believe I have the cure for your problem (especially since they came off of that exact body). PM me your mailing address again and I'll send them out on Monday when I go to the postal orifice to ship out a couple of sails. Since I put pickguards on the new body they do the bushing and eat up all the extra pot shaft length, so these can't be used and are just sitting in the spare parts box.

I think, one day, I may try to find one of these basses. I think they look really nice and have some neat features.

Strange though, the wiring harness/circuit board I have doesn't come up high enough to attach the small nut and washer for the toggle switch, as if the "top" of the body is too thick.
