My wife, friends and co-workers don't understand how excited I was to pick up another Rickenbacker. So if you allow me, I will vent here to people who care. I added a Ric 650A to my existing collection of a Ric 360. I turn 40 in March 2005 and received permission to buy my Birthday present early! This was after intense negociations (begging). My wife was good enough to let me purchase the 650A. It was such a great deal that I had to jump on it. This guitar sat "untouched" in a store in Portland, Maine for over two 1/2 years. The store's name is Portland Percussion and they had the Ric 650A marked down because it wasn't moving and they needed to clear it out of their inventory.
This guitar is new and in mint condition. I love the neck and the humbucking pickups sound great. My 360 has the toasters so there is quite a difference between the two models. I tried the 650 Dakota but it sounded much darker and deeper. Plus the neck felt much larger than the Ric 650A. After playing the Atlantis I knew this was a guitar I had to have. I know I am preaching to the choir but the quality and price of this instument blow away any type of competition.
Thank you for letting me vent.

I have a 2000 650 Dakota...once you get used to the neck being a little wider than most guitars it plays real nice. Gets a good growl out of my Peavey Triumph 120 W combo!
Does seem to like 11's better than 10's, though. Had issues keeping the intonation in line as I played with 10's. Was squeezing it too hard. But 11's keep thing nice and smooth.
