Here's some info from RIAA on 2009/2010:

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: New Yes Single
it is very bizarre to me that vinyl would be that popular again-personally i don't get it,but i think my standards for listening to recorded music have changed so much in recent years-(as in dropped
) i listen to my cd collection that's been downloaded onto my mac products,and/or pandora these days....on a decidedly low-fi setup-or in my car. i used to have a pretty good hi fi setup for listening to my 400-plus lps,but i got rid of all of it,only kept about 10 lps to hang on the wall as art. i will probly just download the new yes release when it becomes available-or buy a cd.
Re: New Yes Single
I'm not being a wiseguy when I say it's genuinely surprising to me that vinyl would outsell CD's. I think most people would be shocked to hear that.

Ok, so vinyl is increasing in production (comparing its own numbers year to year), but still way less than CD's in terms of units and dollar value, right?
Re: New Yes Single
i would think downloads would be way ahead of both of those formats by now......
Re: New Yes Single
You would think so. Mark

They are depending on the music format. Some others are looking for the warmth that you can only get with analog..There is a perpetual "going back" to things that were perceived as better....look at guitar sales...same thing. Some of it is justified and most of it is not.
Re: New Yes Single
Does anyone have any idea where one can get the box sets? Will it be a limited release or an Amazon type of deal?
I'd really like to get that DVD as well.
I'm TRYING not to listen to more than the 30 second clips that first were out. I want to give it a proper listen, about 10 times, with the headphones on.
Jdog, you used the Flori-Duh tag!
But I digress....I'd love to have a vinyl copy to go with all the other YES LP's I still have.

I have seen it on Amazon. I think you can pre-order. I think it is out in the States on July 12th.

Just downloaded the new album. It must be out in Japan and a site already has it. Haven't listened to it yet but I am on my way to the CD player.

Re: New Yes Single
Listened to the new album once. It was not bad, but I am a tough critic. Not much from Yes has impressed me since Drama. The last song on the album was my favorite Steve was playing some great guitar. The first song is a long song with many parts to it. The new singer is good, he is not Jon but he can sing.

YES!!!!!
Re: New Yes Single
This is a very good album. It is quite different than previous albums IMHO and I think Benoit has been an influencing factor in that regard. It also has Chris taking lead vocal on a track which is something that always puzzled me in the past. He can really sing but never did have a lead vocal in any of the other Albums. I really like this record and the more I listen to it the more I appreciate what they have done here. Good Job Yesmen!

Re: New Yes Single
I must agree. It is quite different for Yes, although they always look to new ideas and FFH should be no exception. In my Yes catalogue, I'm putting it between Drama and 90125, as it sounds to me like the record that Yes would have made in 1981, had the Drama line-up remained intact. "Side 2" tracks are fresh and current. The CD is not over produced IMO and will translate well to the stage, as the tracks seem to have a deep, subtle power that may come out nicely in live performance. Lots of bass pedal action on this one!
I like the way that they did the extended piece this time. Although FFH suite clocks in at 25 minutes or so, they cleverly arranged it so that the main theme is up front as a working "single", unlike past attempts to create a single from an extended piece, "Total Mass Retain" to site one example. "Soon" from Relayer worked nicely as a single as well, but it was essentially the closing section of "Gates of Delirium" without need of intricate editing.
Chris Squire does have one lead vocal on a previous album, which is "Can You Imagine" from Magnification. That song had its roots in the XYZ period of the early 80's work with Jimmy Page.
I always liked Drama because Squire's voice is so strong in the mix. Ever since then, I've appreciated his voice as a lead singer and hoped for more solo efforts.

Re: New Yes Single
Drama is a great album. When I heard that Jon and Rick were gone and these two dudes from a New Wave group the Buggles were the new singer and keyboard player I thought Yes has lost there minds. Then heard Run Through The Light on the radio on a Yes special about the bands history and the new album, I was totally impressed. My only criticism was that Man In A White Car was too short.
