4001 truss adjustment video?

Post by MichaelStewart »

Does someone have a video showing a tech adjusting the truss rods on a 4001 while explaining what he/she is doing?

I have read all the advice, but I would prefer to actually see it done before I tackle it myself.

Thanks!

No vid that I know of yet, but if someone in the So Cal would like their 4001 set up by me, it's freebie, they just have to hold the video camera while I do the setup.
Tackling it for the first time might seem like a bit of a challenge, but after you've done it, you'll realize, that wasn't so difficult, really.

I'd love to see this as well. I'm actually surprise no one has done it yet considering how much apprehension people have over adjusting it.

What a great addition this video would be to your site, Joey. I know I for one would love to see it. Even knowing the procedure on paper still gives me pause to attempt it on my '78 for fear of messing something up.

I agree this would be a great addition to the general knowledge base and another reason this forum stands out from others. Thanks in advance.

The standard adjustments are things everyone should be able to do with their instruments, but sometimes we psych ourselves out. I'm technically savvy, can read and understand an S.O.P. and how the adjustment reads makes sense, but seeing it done added the color.

For contributions like this, will you place them in "Basses" or in the "Set Up" forum?

It's something I've been wanting to do for a very long time. That time may come very soon!
I did do a vid with Erik K once, setting up one of his 2030 basses. One of these days I have to edit it to a usable size. Though it wouldn't help anyone with a 4001. For owners of 2000 series and 4004 basses, it would be a good guide.

That time has finally come. There is a 4001 truss rod adjustment video available and more to come.

Hadn't visited your site in a while, Joey, but I just checked out the two videos that are up. Great stuff, man. Very helpful and informative. Maybe videos like those will show people that working on RICs isn't such a difficult or scary thing.

Thanks Joey. I need to pry my rods up a bit to get the wrench on them - now I know how to do it!
