Introduction

Post by Kopfjaeger »

Hello,
As a new member to this forum I wanted my first post to tell you all a little about myself. My name is Joseph but my friends call me Sepp. I've been playing bass since I was 13 years old. I'm 47 now but I stopped playing in bands and had little time to practice since getting married over 20 years ago. At that time I sold most of my gear except for my 1981 Fender precision. Quiet recently a co worker (drummer) has urged me to pick up my guitar and give it another try. I instantly realized that I had missed it. As a present to myself, I purchased a 2011 manufactured 4003 JG. I had previously owned a 4001 in the early 1980's and I remembered how much I loved to play on it. I was thrilled to see that there was a forum dedicated to my favorite guitar manufacturer and it's fine instruments!

Who knows where this "hobby" will lead but I'm enjoying getting reacquainted with playing bass, especially on my Ric. Oh, my wife is a bit concerned but my two children both think its cool that their dad can still rock!

Welcome to the forum, Sepp and also welcome back to the wonderful feeling of owning a Rickenbacker. Don't worry about where it leads, just enjoy it! :)

Hi Sepp, and welcome. Yeah, it's a great ride this passion for Rickenbacker instruments that we all share. By the way, I like your web alias; Headhunter. :) There must be a story behind that.

Hi Sepp, welcome to the menagerie. Rockin' Dad's is where it's at. I got back into a band 10 years ago, after taking a break through the 90's and haven't stopped. And I'll be 51 soon. 4 Rickenbackers here (little strings) and counting since 2002. You found THE place for Ric addicts.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. A few weeks ago I joined a bass forum and was surprised to see all the negative comments toward Ric's. Before my new Ric. arrived, I enjoyed playing my Fender but once the Ric arrived, my Fender has seen very little playing time. If I could only play one, well it would be my 4003! When it arrived I remembered back how light, easy, and comfortable to play it was. It was like being reunited with a familiar old friend.

I have a ton of questions about my old 4001 and a few about my new bass but I'll place those in the appropriate places on the forum.

Oh, and my user name "Kopfjaeger" does have a bit of significance. Perhaps I'll expound a bit about that at a later time. :)

Quite easy. When posting a reply, look below the text box where you enter your reply. There's an Options tab and an Upload attachment tab. Click on the Upload tab, then use "Choose File" to navigate to the picture file you wan to add. Then after selecting that use the "Add the file" button.

Note that pictures have to be smaller than 1200 x 1200 or something like that so if they aren't you'll have to use some program to resize them...

Oh, it might not be all that interesting. I've been approached by all sorts of "head hunters" trying to hire me off to other companies. Hopefully Sepp's story is more interesting than that...

Oh duh! I was looking at the top header for the attachment bar. I did not think to look below. Thanks for the tip to the newbie!

I;ll have to play around with the foto pixels since I can't seem to get them small enough to allow me to post a foto. Stay tuned.
