My band, Teleprompter, just recorded our first EP in Brisbane at Gasworks Studios. As I was playing my 4001 (thanks Eden), Willy was watching really intently. Willy was this older, slightly batty guy who pretty much ran the studio, but wasn't helping out on our recordings. We were having a smoke outside and he commented on what a lovely bass I was playing, so I let him have a noodle. I didn't really think much of it until my keyboard player/housemate came back from dinner with his uncle with some news. Turns out his uncle knows the guy who runs the studio, John Wilsteed. Willy, it turns out, was the bassist for The Go-Betweens and we'd been bumming smokes off him for the past four days.
Well, that's my story. I was a little bit excited. My band's touring soon if anyone wanted to come along. I'll post some dates soon.
Funny story...
