I prefer the Shadow neck , hands down!! Slim and fast. Good for rock 'n roll.....or just about anything...

The v63, I feel, is better for anything medium to slow tempo, due to the size and shape of the neck, it just "feels" better playing that type of music....

IMHO, of course!! :^)

hehe, I reside in ye olde merry England.

I would actually prefer a maple v63, as I would get it refinished white by Dolan, with the headwings left exposed. A white v63 is high up on my wishlist.

How lucky I am to be able to compare them!!

…and a proud dual owner at that! I am very fortunate to be an original owner of a 1985 MG V63 and now thanks to Chris I have a 86 Shadow. The necks on these two beauties are nearly identical. Both are very slim and fast. However, I find myself reaching for the Shadow more than my V but more so for the sound, not playability

That Fireglo is drop dead gorgeous!

Out of interest guys - how much should I expect to pay for one of those FG V63's?

And, Chris, if you can help me find one (if they aren't too expensive) I'd be delighted to hear from you, too! I've just gotten a 4001s, so couldn't do it immediately, but I'd love to know how much cash I'd need to gather to get one just like your new beauty.

I've never quite understood 'collecting' Rics if one seldom/never gigs them. Isn't it a bit of a shame? (not to insinuate whether you gig or not, guys.)

I'm just thinking aloud here.

I guess it is the whole G.A.S ailment we get struck with. *shrug*

....just like baseball cards....you collect 'em!! lol!

...only you go into debt upto your eyeballs....and I'm 6'7" :^)

I play mine on a rotation basis, but they ALL get played....so I guess whether it's 2 or 20 that you own, you would be considered a collector.....
