Cheapskates? :P Hardly--paying less for lodging is one way to save up for Rickenbackers
Hmmmm, it looks like I'll have a bit of a hike from the Best Western Los Alamitos Inn to the Starting Gate. I may have to rethink this. And I've stayed in real dives before. Believe me, from the Google satellite photos, Don's doesn't look half bad.

I'm sure one of us locals would be willing to pick you up on the way. There's usually some more space in the clown car somewhere. . .

I went ahead and booked into the Residence Inn,as it's more of a known item quality wise.I do like to patronize smaller independants, but only if I can look them over first. If I end up with nothing to do Sunday, the Res looks like a better place to be.And if I get out and about, leaving my inst. in that room would possibly be safer.

Residence in is perfect. It's staggering distance from the Starting Gate.

Considering the oddball 3 crosswalk route to get across the street, it's probably farther than the other hotel.

I'm staying there and have a rental, so I'm game for a ride.

Smart move, and it's closer to starting gate.

Don's is hardly the quaint "underdog" local motel worth supporting. They're a dusty gross relic from the 70s, and not even cool in an old Vegas rat-pack way.

There is a sweet 70s Cadillac parked in their driveway that has been there for decades (at least the 16 years I lived in Los Al) and it's covered in about 3" of dust........the cool factor ends right about there.

And I'll only have two basses and possibly my wife in tow. Please let me know if anyone is without a ride, and I will try to accommodate.

Speaking of my wife, feel free to put songs with female lead vocals on the list. If she knows 'em, she'll sing 'em for us!

collin wrote:Yeah, take the Kety route and stay at the nicer place across the street, you'll thank me later, cheapskates.
Thanks, Collin. Nice to see that I was smart for a change...it's easier for you when you gotta drive me home...remember more awesome hot tea and this year, it's the ANIMALS.

Yeah, Don, Residence Inn wasn't too bad. It's got wireless, should you have a laptop like me.

Guess what...Friday night, I'm going to the Season Premiere taping of the revived, new and improved Two and a Half Men instead of Jay Leno, who I will now be attending on Thursday...

I'll see if she knows it, and if not, there's time to learn it!
