Official George Harrison Duo-Jet

looks pretty sweet despite the fact that it's probably going to be $12000 like the Eddie Cochrane one was. I'm just glad to see a true, proper Harrison release.

It's cool, but I'd rather buy the non-relic version Gretsch already has available and put the dings in it myself. :) As it is, I already have a super cool Duo Jet I'm more than happy with, the RI of the earliest Duo Jet, with the plain arrow knobs, block inlays, and pearloid inlay headstock logo, as well as the fixed arm Bigsby.I replaced the fixed arm on mine with a movable, piece.

I picked up every Jet style guitar Gretsch has available at last years NAMM, including the Roundup; they're all very, very chambered, and super light in weight these days. Unless on has to have the dings in it, I think it's better just to buy the standard RI models, and buy the Duncan p/up upgrades if that's what one's after.

Still, it's really cool that Gretsch is offering the model though. :) Thanks for posting the link.

It's here and it's 20,000 Berries! Ouch!!! At least it DOES come with one of George's guitar picks!

Rocky Schiano at Street Sounds told me that there are only going to be 60 made, and he was lucky to get two, one of which he's keeping for himself.

I was down at Fender Custom shop and talking to Stephen Stern while he was working on the George Harrison Gretsch models, I got the opportunity to check one out at close quarters and I was very impressed with the minute and sympathetic details going into the relic process on these guitars. Now if I could just afford to buy one.

Robert: In terms of the time spent in building this instrument, did you get a sense of how much time was spent proportionately on the "relic process." It is surely a giant leap in price (perhaps seven fold) from the Harrison duojet standard model to the relic.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I am sorry I didn't get an opportunity to find out how much time is spent on the relicing process, but I will find out, I will probably be back down at the Custom Shop next week.

NEW, non-relic version of the George Harrison Signature Duo Jet; list price is $5K, about $1,350 more than the other Jet models, so street price is probably only slightly more than the typical Jet model

Why can't they also reissue a TYPICAL '57 Duo Jet, too?

Gretsch has in the past, but probably removed it from the product line at the moment to boost sales of the GH model. I guess you'll have to buy the 1957 Silver Jet RI. .    ;)

I bought the fixed arm Bigsby Duo Jet model (54-55 era-still available) with the plain arrow knobs, square block inlays, and 55-ish logo. I replaced the fixed arm, and the Melitta bridge with a space conraoller (more sustain1), and I love it; it's light as a feather, and rocks!!!!

I've got the aged version of the 57 that came out a while back and love it. It is set up with a set of Chromes on it and it can do both that great Please Please Me era sound as well as some great 50's tones especially with my Dano slap-back echo unit and tweed Bassman.

Just suppose you were to accidentally put your own fresh ding in your new Geo. H. 6128. What then? It would no longer be exactly like George's!!! ACH DU LIEBER!!! TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLAH DOWN DA DRAIN!!!! sob....sob.... Seriously, I'm not a big fan of drilling wormholes into new guitars either. I'd rather come by my dents and scratches honestly. Still, I wouldn't kick this guitar out of bed for eating crackers... :D
