There are many musicians on the staff and a number of bands.

Fred Clagg, for instance, is the head of guitar setup. His band is quite well known in Southern California:

There is one thing noticeably missing in that video. I'll give you a clue, it rhymes with "ickenbacker"

Wow, that's some really good music! (Is that John Hall playing on the Hautewerk website?) Now, my next question is well, did you guys make your own instruments that you guys use in concert/recording?

Not everyone at RIC builds guitars.

Plus, there are probably pretty few people who can build a guitar from start-to-finish. There are specialists for paint, woodshop, pickup winding, setup etc etc..

Bass, only the bass. The rest was Kenny Howes.

Actually, there's more than a few people here who could make a complete instrument (and I'm one of them) but I don't recall any time that anyone actually has, both as a matter of efficiency and the skill that specialization fosters.

Sad, but true- no Rickenbacker's in his band. I guess after playing a few dozen each day, he's burned out.

Actually, quite a few guys have made their own guitars from scratch (some really good, others not so much). I know of at least ten that come to mind that have worked here over the past five years. Some of these guys went to school to learn how to build guitars, others are self-taught. I remember Chucky, Nakano, Rata, Danimator, C-White, Nickster, Coco, The Duff Bros, and the Big T. There are others, I just don't recall their names. If you wanna nitpick it, not every one of them wound their own pickups, but then again, a lot of big manufacturers don't either.

Yeah, and none of these folks painted their instruments themselves either.

Not in OUR sprayroom anyway... One of those guys told me he sprayed his guitar with a rattle can while holding out the window of his apartment.

Trust me, you don't want to hear me play guitar. However, I do on the new Hautewerk CD that's in the works . . .

I feel like I saw JH playing some guitar on a video promoting their CNC machines, and I dug what I heard.
