They did not have the year posted and I did not take the time to ask them to run the serial number for me. I wasn't that interested in actually buying it, just noodling around Guitar Center as we all dojps wrote:The black lettering can easily wear off, how old was this guitar?Matt Clark wrote:.....this person took the time to remove the black lettering around the jack holes. Weird!
It looked brand spankin' new, but that doesn't mean much as my '87 does too (shy of the yellowing binding). However, I would think if it was used enough to "wear" off the lettering the guitar would have been showing it's age a bit more. It really looked like someone purposefully removed the lettering. The jack plate wasn't scratched up or anything, it looked "dressed." And, the serial number was clear as a bell, I just don't recall what it was.
I'm guessing the person that rewired this 12 string ran it through two amps and use a jack for each amp, and they did not want to use a handmade, stereo guitar cord.
But that really doesn't matter much, it was wired funky, that's the important part. This topic's about what the controls do and the answer is, from the factory they do X, but if someone tampers with it, it's hard to say. I had my white 620 rewired with a third RIC pickup, and my controls, although looking normal, have widely different functionality changing the versatility of my guitar 10 fold, so I know I've done it!
