Impulse Buy, Returned.

Post by Ivan3000 »

I recently boughat an epi casino at guitar center Allentown PA, in cherry finish, I really liked it, but it was an impulse buy, I returned it the next day. I just liked how it was like Noel Gallagher's. Now I have my money back and I'm on the fast track to a Rick!

Had to play earth angel on it once though!

What do you think of the Casino's weight? To me it's too light in weight, it just doesn't feel right... the sound's okay, imo.

Other than general body shape and color....these two guitars....have almost nothing in common whatsoever. Just sayin...

That's very true Collin. Besides all the differences that are easy to spot, the Gibson is a much nicer guitar...........except for the price of course.

Not to mention that the 345 wasn't even available in 1955 when that part of the movie takes place. Still, nice looking Casino. Sorry it wasn't meant to be.

In the beginning when he goes to 1955, the song Mr. Sandman is played. That wasn't released until 1958.

I bought my first Casino almost exactly the same way--it happened to be in a stand next to an amp I was interested in. Wound up buying the guitar and the amp, LOL...Mine's also cherry.

Since then, I've gone through several others. In addition to that cherry Casino, I also have a '65 Lennon I picked up as a refurb.

Good luck with your Ric search...but I hope you give the Casino another chance down the road somewhere--they're one of my favorite guitars.

Hello,
A friend of mine is really passionate about guitar and love this one. Can you tell me where can I find it and on what price? it will for present. Probably is some classical model. Thanks

Regards,
It plays really nice. It is at a guitar center in Allentown PA used, you could probobly order it online also. It is listed at $500USD but I got them down to $480USD. As of about a week ago it was there. I hope you get it! good luck, I could give you the serial number if you are interested ( I will eventually get around to finding out the year of production).

Ah, the dreaded impulse buy. . . I impulse bought a Washburn Acoustic 12 in white with a single cutaway and built in p/up once. It took me two years to sell the thing. .. . though I ended up making $50 on the sale over purchase price. Biggest purchase mistake I ever made; I was never happy with that guitar.

I have seen them in stores but never played a Casino, all the string instrument playing Beatles got em in 65 or so. I heard Paul loves his. I have a 57 Gibson ES-225TD, it looks like what Lonesome George Thorogood plays(ed). It has dual P-90's in it and it is a feed back machine, and light as a feather. I went to the store a few times before I got it. It is my only vintage axe. The trapeze bridge can be a pain, but hey it was made 9 years before I was born.

Love me some Casinos. My '96 turquoise w/Epi-Bigsby is my desert island guitar. I actually sold it once and was lucky to get it back a few months later.

The trick is to find one with a serial number starting with "R" from the mid to late 90's, designating it was made in the Aria factory. Those are great. I have a similar "R" Riviera from '97 in same color w/same vibrato. Love'm!

I think the lightweight spruce top on the Casino is great. The Riviera is ridiculously heavy in comparison.

I love the tourquoise. The sad part is that mine was great, and the SN started with an R, I took a picture of it on my phone. It was ROH3.... A part of me regrets returning it, but I need a Rick. The think I liked about it was the solid one peice back that screamed quality. I got a fantastic deal, but I just could handle being further away from a Rick than I already am.
