Both practical and beautiful. Go for it. 4004's look a bit "naked" when you're used to 4001/3 bling. And you'll have the 4002 (okay, Fender J) treble pickup location.

After playing/hearing Gary Clauson's and Dave Pascoe's 4002's and hearing Steve Wood's sound clips of his 4004LK, makes me want to add that 3rd pickup near the bridge.
