I love the looks of the deluxe, pre-mid '73 4001's, but when it comes down to playing, the V63's are my favorites.

Ha ha a -NO!

I read somewhere that a Ric warranty is only valid inside the US, even when bought from a dealer here in Oz, so only a shop-warranty is available for a single year.
So really, the benefit of buying new isn't all that for me......

I am leaning towards the new 4003's tho...everything I've read elsewhere (not here on the RR) points to the new gen. 4003's being pretty shmicko.

I've also read that 4001 and 4003 sound quite similar. The fact is 4003 are cheaper and also beautiful :)

Though they share the Rickenbacker general tonality, they DO sound different in the spectrum and definition they impart to the notes you play.
