Mid September? Hmm, I'll probably be out in Santa Rosa end of Aug or early Sept. visiting my wife's mom. Don't really know the schedule yet, but who knows? I might actually be able to make it to one of these things!

Gary's in Yellowstone? Heck, by Montana standards, you're practically in the neighborhood - only 300 miles away! If you head west and get anywhere near Hamilton, MT (south of Missoula) let me know, maybe we can have a beer or something...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

For a moment, I thought this thread was about the Jam. "Now why would Paul Weller know anything about... Oh, JingleJangle!"

I'd love, love, love a Ric acoustic from Paul. I want that bright acoustic tone.

Bay Area ( BARC ) again some day ?

Post by modrock »

Rich and other Nor Cal RRF members,

Maybe we should move this over to Rickenbacker Conferences and Confluences. :D

It would be great to have something in the Bay Area again, though this time I think Kira should take a break, she did the last BARC without much help.

I'm just wondering how many people would come, or how many people do we have in the Bay Area or Valley close by ? It could be held anywhere from San Jose to up here in the wine country. I lost my contact for the Villa in Healdsburg ( he was my former bass player ). Due to city budget cuts he lost his residence AND job on the grounds there.
How about Santa Cruz ( Doug F. ) or San Jose, Sacramento ? Just some ideas to get feelers out there.

I could check into studio space or practice studios in the Petaluma-Santa Rosa area. Petaluma would be closer to SF...just a thought...

Any ideas ?

In the meantime, you guys in SoCal, have a great time with SCARF !

Gary,

How is wine country doing? I used to live in Santa Rosa form 97 - 00. Used to live off of I think Stoney Point Road. I miss it up there, now I am stuck in Virginia.

Hi Joel,

I'm a native Californian, grew up in the Valley around Sacramento-Stockton area, and I've been in Santa Rosa for 33 years now. I'd never leave this area, I've been all over the world during military service, and all over the US, but I've never found an area I like better. Now I'm semi-retired, I have no plans to live anywhere else for any length of time.
I know Stony Point Road well, it's one of the major semi-rural roads on the west side of Santa Rosa. It's the perfect climate, never too hot or too cold, and the sun shines a lot. Having grown up in the Central Valley, I got tired of the winter over-cast days and the really hot summers. Yeah, a great place to live. I don't miss living in little Lodi  where I lived from 1948-1967, that's for sure.
If you ever get back this way look me up... :D

Cheers,

I am a military man myself and have traveled the world too, and was stationed at the Training Center in Petaluma when I lived there. I did 4 years in the Navy and the last 18 have been in the Coast Guard. I am retiring in December with 22 years as an E-8. I was in Santa Rosa, San Jose and Pismo Beach a year ago visiting friends and family. I spent 20 years in San Jose an then 6 more in that Bay Area when I was stationed there. I remember it when San Jose was nothing but a name in a song title (Do You Know The Way... Yes I know the way I lived there) and now it is the Silicon Valley. Every time I go back more growth and less land. My best friend works at a winery in Healdsburg. It is close the Bear Republic Brewing Co. I miss CA, but know I could never afford to live there ever again. My mother sold her house in San Jose when the market was crazy and moved to Pismo Beach.

It may be off-topic, sir, but I'd like to thank you for your service to our country. I'm glad you're here.
