1969 4001

Post by teeder »

Some of you may have seen this one on evilbay a couple weeks ago. It arrived this past Friday and I've been completely smitten with it since! I snapped a few pictures today, though they don't do it justice. My camera didn't do well with the sun and Fireglo. I'll get better ones later and open it up for some snaps inside.

I was pleasantly surprised how clean it is. I'm convinced that when I took the TRC and tailpiece off, I was the first since it left the factory.

That's a beauty, Kevin. Love those '60s FGs.

If you were the first to remove the TRC, how did the white paint on the back edge get chipped? Just askin'

It was stuck to the peghead when I took it off, but I needed to see the rods.

Minus the horseshoe, this bass has every feature I love about the early 4001's,and a beautiful original unharmed FG finish---simply gorgeous! How's it sound compared to your 'burg?

I haven't A-B'ed them yet.

The '69 is light and resonant.
The neck is small and very comfy. The Burg's neck is wider and flatter. Both typical for their years, from what I've seen.
