What color should I paint this guitar?

Post by adam_swapp »

I'm considering the purchase of another rescue project. This one's a new style 360. It's going to need a complete refin, so I'm turning to you guys (and gals) for artistic inspiration.

I've done Fireglo; and that's a personal favorite. I've done Plumglo, because I was mixing a bunch of dye samples and the wife liked that color*. I'm looking for something subtly unique but not inappropriate. I'd like something refined (not garish) that looks like it could have been a factory finish - but I'm not going to limit myself to RIC's previous finishes. The body's good, so there's no need to use a solid color to hide flaws.

So, I'm all ears. If you have a suggestion, I'd love to hear it.

* Good move, that was. "Involving" her in the project tends to limit the complaints about the time you spend. Image
You want to put that where?

What about Midnight Blue Sunburst? Or translucent Orange, like those great Heritage finishes?

I'd go for maybe a transparent or metallic blue or - better yet - dark slate grey or greenish blue (Like sea green but much darker). Would look killer w/white pickguard & trc

I like the Honey-burst on this old Italian hollow body. Would look very unique on a Rick...

Greenglo.

Burgandy Mist, but with a much larger flake. You could play a show with David Lee Roth, but that guitar would still get all the attention.

Fender's Burgandy Mist, that is. I think Gibson called it "Heather Poly" and there wasn't as much flake in it, or something like that?

Adam, I vote for a black-to-silver burst (black edge to silver center).
