Richard, cool story, beautiful maple, and a one-of-a-kind purple Cii. Very nice.

Hi. Can I ask why you sold the 'purple' Rick back to the shop?

I live in Japan, and this September I'm returning to the States for a 30-year band reunion. I used to play a Rick replica and I might get a real one for the occasion.

Welcome to the RRF Frank. What is the name of your band?

That is lovely looking, I wonder what my hofner icon would look like after months of sunbathing. I hate the ugly burst on that thing, I like the vintage hofner bursts.

I'm kinda in Scott's camp. I don't think it's faded unless there was a small batch of non-lightfast paint that somehow got used.

I love the shade, but also find it hard to believe it faded because of the sun. The color is too consistent.

THREAD REVIVAL!

I didn't remember this thread. A fellow on the 4004Cii group on FB posted a link to this thread.

Well, there are TWO now that I'm aware of.

This bass was a Namm Show bass, according to Chris at POTR. It wasn't exposed to sunlight that he's aware of, and I sure haven't exposed it to the sun. But it is unique!
Photo's are VERY difficult to capture the colors. It is VERY odd, in SUNLIGHT, it has a Reddish/blue hue, indoor lighting, you get the "Barney" bass, and with florescent lighting, it's a blueish/dark purple....it's a weird one!

Here are a few shots to show the color. It too is officially a TRANS BLUE.

Tony like I said to you on FB and on the phone, if you don't like the color, I'll trade you my Jetglo Cii!
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

Thanks Rich!

I've actually had it for a good while John, probably since the Namm timeline? IDK, Feb/March???

Thanks Joey, you'd give away snow in winter, eh? A Jetglo 4004cii...tell me THAT makes sense.

Don't go there Jeff.

ACTUALLY, I did the UNTHINKABLE. Being cash poor, thanks to my kids  , I TRADED my KILLER sweet 1988 V63 for it. It was NOT an easy choice. I loved that V63.

It took me WEEKS to decide. The PROBLEM being the noise I'd get playing at MULTIPLE VARIOUS gigs. The LAST straw was I was asked to play at a special gig, it was a large one. The sound guy kept coming up to me saying "that single coil noise coming out of that bass is horrible, I had to crank you WAY DOWN just to keep you in the mix.
SO, I decided then and there, I had to do something. It was the third gig in a row I had that happen. The bass WAS copper shielded, and verified that it was working properly.
Hence began multiple talks with Chris over at POTR.

The rest, as they say, is history. It didn't cost me a penny out of pocket, not even shipping costs for the new bass. It now is my goto bass, especially now that he action is set DEAD LOW. This gorilla ROCKS!!!! Even if it does remind me of BARNEY! ;)

Hey, first of all, where we both live you'd probably get interest in snow. It would cool people off in the heat. It's too cold to play with snow in places that have real winter.

Secondly: your loss that you can't appreciate how much JETGLO ROCKS! Besides, it's the only one I have with the pickups shifted towards the bridge, so I ain't giving it away!
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

I really like the color,Tony! So,this being a recent model,is the neck thinner than older 4004's?
