“'What was that note?' I told him it was a B natural, the third of G dominant 7 going back to C minor, and I can't talk while I'm playing so don't ask me any more questions." - Ron Carter to Miles Davis
Chris, you can order the poster through my website.
Right now, I'm waiting to hear back from Hal Leonard/Backbeat about solutions to a software compatibility problem we have. I've been building the books pages with Pages, a consumer-level page-making program which works great. Except they publish their books with InDesign, a professional-level publishing software, and the two programs will not talk with each other. In all likelihood, I will have to rebuild the book with InDesign which I hope to accomplish with the assistance of the graphic designer who helped me with the poster, book covers, and website. I figure I will have to either have her rebuild the pages, or learn to do it myself (shouldn't be too hard). I want to avoid having to shell out for the full suite InDesign software and would rather pay her for her time with me on her computer. I think once we make a series of page templates, we should be able to bang out eight to ten pages an hour easy (if it goes as I suspect). The other alternative is to hand over the book's text in Word and all the photos and let HL/BB design the book. That's not what I want. I've built more than 90 pages now, and I'm still waiting on a few photo contributions and the remainder of Ted Staberow's "anatomy" series. Still looking at completion this calendar year with publication in 2012. If Hal Leonard/Backbeat publishes it, you should have no problems locating a copy as it will be in bookstores, online, and on Amazon.
