'87 360 Grover Tuners Replacement

Post by 87ric360 »

I have an '87 360/6 JG which has Grover bean shaped tuners but they are very stiff and I'd like to replace them. I've seen some Schallers on eBay that are the same as all the modern Rics but does anyone know if I can do a straight swap without having to modify the headstock or screw new holes? Perhaps it would be better to replace them with some new Grovers? Thanks in advance for your replies. :D

IIRC Schaller keys will require holes in different places--the Schallers have screw holes more toward the center of the headstock, while the Grovers are in a straight line with the body of the tuning key.

Of course, I learned that working in a Gibson factory, so I could be completely wrong
