Midnite Blue

Post by Peacefrog35 »

I know this is only opinion, but it seems like this isn't a really strongly desired color. Maybe its because of the the big sale a weeks ago on these basses through a popular retailer. I personally think it's a great color. What say you guys/gals? I have a chance to get one for $1000 and really like the color although fireglo is always my first choice. If the new mapleglo would amber out like the old ones, that would be a close second, but I guess those days are over. :)

The new MID (about the last year and a half or so) is particularly spectacular. Really brilliant and cobalty...mmm. I mean, I love my '08 MID 4003FL (one of only two MID FLs in the registry), but I'd love it more in the newer shade.

I love the color. I snagged one of those MF sale basses. Frankly, every new Ric I've owned was not the color I wanted at the time of purchase, rather, the only thing available at the time. The first one I ever saw back in '86 was blue, but by the time I scraped up the cash, FireGlo was the only one in stock at my local store. When I wanted back into Rics about six years ago, JetGlo was the only thing available. This time, at the right price, MID was the only color available. But I've grown to like each one once I had them.

Now I love MID.

I love MID! Go for it!!! :D

I'd trade my 6&12 string pair of 381s in nicely figured and ambered Mapleglo for a like pair in MID!

My all time favorite Ric color is Azureglo, and MID started as a modern metallic version of AZG. Personally I'm not big on metallic finishes.

A couple years ago RIC changed the formula and made it less metallic and less purple and it looked great, but judging from recent pics, I think it's moving towards purple again. But I could be wrong.

As one that has owned a Mid, JG, a few FG's, and a few MG,s I have liked them all. The thing is when I went to sell any of these and move on to something else I found it hard to sell colors other than FG. So many buyers and dealers told me that they would take it if it were FG. I had one dealer tell me he has never been able to sell a blue guitar of any brand. I don't know if this is something that is common for my local area or not, but if you like to change up a bit FG seems to be on the most wanted list. On the other hand members of this forum are all over the map as far as likes and dislikes. If resale is no object get what you like. At the price drop for the recent Mid sell-off, the dealer already took the hit so it shouldn't matter for the buyer.

If I had another Double bound Rick 12 string around, I would. Sounds killer, and I love your creations. If I did in this case, I'd be without a Rick 12 string though, and I don't have the $ to buy another one right now. . . at least the one I want; a Jetglo 360/12 C63. If the 360/12 C63 model came in MID, I'd get one of those.

MID is a very appropriately named color. It looks like a midnight sky. I like it, where I like no other blue.

My ex-Mid 4003 was one that I actually bought for the color. Mine was the previous mix though......

It was one of those colors that always looks good and usually doesn't show smudges or fingerprints. Usually.....

I have a 620 in MID and it is a great color. For that price, your get a great bass in a great color, give it a shot!

Brian, that looks like blood. You are quite the aggressive player!
